Shaun White Biography
Shaun White was born and raised in California (San Diego and Carlsbad). He was born with a heart defect and underwent multiple surgeries before the age of 1.
He started snowboarding at a young age, as well as surfing and skateboarding. Although he gained fame within the action sports world early on in his snowboarding and skateboarding careers, he became a household name after winning the gold medal for the USA at the Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy in Men`s Snowboarding Halfpipe in 2006.
He is often called "The Flying Tomato" by mainstream media networks although he has often claimed that he has outgrown it. He is also known as "The Animal".
After the win at the the Winter Olympics, he made many media appearances, including some on Ellen, Jay Leno, and Jimmy Kimmel.
